Thank you to Industry Partners

What a year! With over 250 students passing through the IAP in 2011 we have been busy placing students in many exciting roles across the globe.
We would like to thank our Industry Partners who have hosted our students over the year. Your contribution to the program helps bridge the gap between study and work, providing final year students with industry experience that prepares them for graduate recruitment.

Completing her placement in 2009, Natasha Smith was placed with IAP Partner Gelita to work on the optimisation of their Wastewater Treatment Plant. The outcome of her project provided cost savings to the organisation by implementing changes to the operating parameters of the treatment process.
Graduating with first class honors, Natasha completed a double-degree in Environmental Engineering and Science with Griffith. A competitive graduate with first-hand experience in Gelita’s organisation processes and culture, Natasha was employed by Gelita following her placement.
“My IAP placement was everything to my graduate career. I continued working at Gelita on a casual basis during the rest of my degree and was then employed full-time. I particularly like the diversity they offer,” Natasha commented. Read more

IAP student Chris DeSousa headed underground for his placement

Looking for an experience that would give his career a kick-start, IAP student Chris DeSousa headed to the other side of the country and then 700m underground.
With a genuine love for engineering and a keen attitude in the workplace, Chris’ motivation to complement his study with practical experience ensured his success in a Western Australian mine.
A change of scenery from the beaches of the Gold Coast, we asked Chris what it’s like to work all the way down there ....“some people get used to it faster than others, but once you’re working you don’t think twice about the fact there’s that much rock above your head!” Read more
